What additional comments, experiences or ideas would you like to share: Hey everyone, well it has been 13 months since my diagnosis and I'm still having treatment. I have been quite unlucky in that I did not respond to the 6 months of ABVD chemo, so the last 6 months I have had a salvage chemotherapy regime, as well as a stem-cell transplant, and I am starting radiotherapy at the end of Sept 2007. Is there anyone else out there that had a relapse and underwent a stem-cell transplant? If anyone has any questions, I would love to hear from you."

What additional comments, experiences or ideas would you like to share: Was only 18 when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was staged at 3B, lived in a small country town 3 hours away from the hospital and in which it was a very long drawn out process to actually get diagnosed, it took nearly 2 years. Very open in talking about my experiences and helping others through it. Today, bit over 12 months since my last treatment (July 2006) I'm now back at work, and in remission.

What additional comments, experiences or ideas would you like to share: I was diagnosed with stage 3B Hodgkin's in March 2006, had 6 months of chemo (ABVD), got the all clear in October. At my 6 month check up I found out I had relapsed (26 April 2007). Since then I've had the ESHAK chemo regime, an intense LACE chemo regime and a stem cell transplant. I start radiation on 30 October 2007. Would love to hear from others who are in the same situation or anyone going through this experience. Any support I can give to help would be great. I'd love to give something back.

It was a very painful experience but for all those out there with Hodgkin's, just do what I did and always have the attitude that you'll beat it....I never missed a day of work over the 4 months of chemo.

What additional comments, experiences or ideas would you like to share: I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. When my diagnosis was made I was really worried and scared, I have treatment coming up in two days. I'm being strong and really positive, yes it was heart breaking and devastating but I'm trying to stay strong for other cancer patients, as well as family and friends. To every cancer patient hang in and be strong, don't give up as I'm not going to. I am heartbroken and worried but still staying positive, well trying to anyway. I would love to hear from you so I can share my support as well and give you confidence. My side effects were drenching night sweats, fatigue, rashes from head to toe, and one day I was singing and I felt something pop, that's when I knew I had to go to the doctor and that's when I was diagnosed. What additional comments, experiences or ideas would you like to share: When I was first diagnosed it changed my whole life and I never realised how many others out there had this illness. At first I didn't believe it and also didn't want to believe it. As I began treatment on 1st April I was so scared and very sick but luckily they found my cancer early. The worst part for me was when all my hair fell out I cried so much and thought I'd never be happy and was ashamed of how I looked. I was afraid of what people would say but as my treatment went on I started not to care what others thought and I know that even without my hair I'm still a gorgeous person. I'm still going through treatment now and I just found out the last 2 months of my chemo didn't work. I was devastated but the doctors are doing everything they can for me and I know I will get better but I won't be better until the end of the year. I try to look at everything from a positive point of view, even when it seems there is really no good point of view and I believe everything happens for a reason. Remember stay strong, that's the best medication.

My main support was a friend who had also gone through cancer and chemotherapy. I encourage you to share your experiences with others as this is what helped me to cope. I don't even have check ups any more, but can contact my oncologist any time if I have questions. Praise God I'm alive today and can share my story. The Lance Armstrong book titled something like "It's not about the bike" has some excellent cancer quotes concerning his experience with cancer.

I hope that people contact me so that I can help them through their HD journey. I had both chemo and radiation therapy, and steroid therapy as well. What additional comments, experiences or ideas would you like to share: I was diagnosed recently with Hodgkin's stage 2A after finding a lump in my neck when I was travelling in the Mediterranean. I primarily returned to Adelaide after finding out that my mum has terminal bowel cancer and made myself her carer before visiting the doctor myself. I am seeing first-hand the horrible experience she is having with chemotherapy and it is really scaring me. I realise that having a positive attitude can make a huge difference and would appreciate some information about ways that people have retained theirs.

Although being in remission is quite scary and probably more so than treatment. I went to a support group for cancer patients in Gympie but as nice as everyone was, there was no one my age and I could have really benefitted from having someone my own age around that was going through the same stuff.

What additional comments, experiences or ideas would you like to share: When I was diagnosed last year I was scared but felt that it was a temporary thing and that after my chemotherapy regime (8 Cycles ABVD) I would be fine. The ABVD was not completely successful and I am due for a Stem Cell Transplant in a month or so after 4 cycles of ICE. I have recently started to feel quite lonely and isolated and would be happy to make contact with anyone who wants to chat.

My case involved experimental chemotherapy, way back at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, a medical breakthrough, it almost ended my life on a number of occasions. I have four sons and a long-suffering beloved wife. Keeping me alive had its moments. Everyone has a story, mine is way too lengthy - 21 years have passed in a flash. My sons who aged 2 months to 5 years at the time are men now. I have helped many understand how to fight and I’ve been asked to write a book, lecture. Alas, time does not stop cancer nor books or lectures. We all have cells with the ability to produce cancer cells. Most do not know how to fight but you do so every day, over and over by praying, wishing, fearing, loving, caring, believing… Listen to the doctors, nurses, and staff.
