About the Australian Hodgkin's Lymphoma Network

After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in March 2007 I was struck by how difficult it was to find fellow patients in Australia that I could talk to. By a lucky coincidence a fellow Hodgkin’s patient living in Australia stumbled upon my email address and contacted me. We became instant friends and communicated by email during our months of treatment.

Although I found it less difficult to get in touch with Hodgkin’s patients living internationally, I found that often the treatments they were given differed from mine here in Australia and the medical healthcare system is vastly different. I felt that it was important to be able to share my experience with someone who could relate closely to what I was going through.

I decided to create the Australian Hodgkin's Lymphoma Network (AHLN) as a means of uniting Hodgkin's Lymphoma patients throughout Australia and providing convenient access to some of the best information-based websites available. I believe it is important that cancer patients and survivors rally around one another and that trouble shared is trouble halved.

I also decided to share my personal story of the disease on this website in the hopes that it might help reassure other victims.
